-LEANNE MORGAN
There are many directions I can take with this one but let’s get real for a minute, one of the rights and privileges of being a “mature” woman in her fifties is the ability to wear what is comfortable and secure. From housecoats (yes that’s a thing) to Walmart mumu’s to glorious, full coverage briefs, we earned it!
So quick question, am I allowed to carry those life rules into this new journey of dating, being 50, etc. or do I have to pry open that “drawer with little, tight, hateful panties in them?” By the way, don’t y’all just love Leanne Morgan:) I have to be honest, the highlight of my day is coming home and taking of my bra and replacing it with a sports variety that last saw elastic in my first freshman year of college! (that one was for you L:)
Let’s face it, sometimes in life you hit a certain point where things are comfortable when you are by yourself. I lost trust in myself for so long because of the choices I was making with the people I allowed in my circle. I was placing the wrong ones on a pedestal and pushing the right ones away. You have to learn to forgive yourself and let go of the “ick” from your past. Trust yourself to welcome the right things and people.
So coming “full-coverage circle”, you worked to get yourself back, you worked for this new confident season in your life, why would you revert to a past that betrays who you really are! As my step-mother says, “don’t go backwards!” especially if you are in an ill fitting pair of panties:) I added that last part in.
So literally and metaphorically, I woke up this morning and put on my big girl panties and I’ve never felt better! Let me clarify, I can’t breathe because of the pollen, I woke up late, Sissy threw up, wet hair does not a messy bun make, I brought Chef Boy Ardee for lunch when I am supposed to be watching my salt, and my outfit annoys me but y’all, those are the things that make me and I am proud of myself. Nothing will ever be perfect but who wants that:) I am, however, perfectly happy living this beautiful life.
Hugs from Statesboro!
Wendy
PS I am pretty sure my Grandmothers were looking down from above this morning and I am suddenly reminded that you should always wear good underwear just in case you are ever in an accident and have to go to the hospital:) I think that’s going to be the next one, things I learned from my Grandmothers:)
